I have one of the Syscomp CircuitGear USB Oscilloscopes to use in a project with some software test equipment. This is a cool box.

It has:

20MS/s dual channel, 10-bit oscilloscope

2 MHz DDS arbitrary waveform generator

Eight channel digital I/O

USB powered, no AC adaptor required

Open source software for Windows, Linux and Mac

I have played with source and it appears everything is there that you would want to use. It is written in TCL.

They have done a good job with this box.

Yes, it’s big. Yes it’s heavy. Yes it does not feel comfortable in the hands like the Kindle 1.

But it handles PDFs and I like it.

An easy way to build equation bitmaps

Here is a site that provides an easy way to generate equation bitmaps online:

In HTML and several common editors there is no good way to write complex mathematical equations. Many people fall back to latex to generate bitmaps. This site lets you interactively click the parts of the equation and generates both the latex and corresponding bitmaps.

For example, I was trying to save some of my Kalman filter notes. I click edited the Predictor equation and it generated this bitmap:

And it generated this latex:

X^{*}_{n+1,n} = \phi X^{*}_{n,n}

Pretty nice.

This morning I added the Barracuda Reputation Block List. It appears to be working correctly. This is the third RBL I am using. The other two are SpamCop and SpamHaus.

I deleted the old Content Management System. I was not maintaining it with the work we have going on. So for now Custom Micronics will just have a simple blog.
